Well said. Something Demi Moore said stuck with me: " I believe things can happen to you or things can happen 'for' you." Maybe it's a cliche, but I've been thinking about it all week.
I think I'm a little bit older then you, so I actually saw "Pretty in Pink" in the theater with my friends, who by that time all had a crush on "Duckie". I too, thought that high-school would be separated by the cool kids vs. the preppy kids. Turns out I ended up going to an all girls Catholic school so it wasn't that horrible but I was also disappointed. This statement is too true; "I will tell you that the mainstreaming of alternative music completely ruined the world and that a small part of me still believes in a world where the Steffs and Hardy Jenns stay on their side of the school and the Andies, Duckies, and Watts-es stay on ours." I also watched "Mannequin" time and time again as we had cable and it was ALWAYS on, just like "Grease 2" and I thank my parents for having cable so I could discover these wonderful films.
People might like to know that Millie covered Mannequin as a guest on the podcast 'Movies That Made Us Gay' with hosts Scott and Pete. It's a fun episode!
I say The Brat Pack (official) was the cast of The Breakfast Club sans AMH, and the cast of St. Elmo’s Fire sans Mare Winningham. I don’t make the rules. Cryer and Hutton and Lea Thompson weren’t in it.
Agreed on the latter but now curious as to why Mare didn’t make the cut. Is it because she was in MIRACLE MILE and simply became too cool for all those folks?!
My partner debated about who was in the Brat Pack all night while watching this doc. Why isn't AMH in it? Is Sixteen Candles not a "Brat Pack" film, then? Is it only The Breakfast Club and St. Elmo's Fire? Agree that Cryer and Hutton and Lea Thompson are not in the BP.
I realize AM probably should've hit the therapist 30 years ago and not wait for Demi to blow his mind but I still enjoyed this. There were some nice surprises and that ending couldn't be better. 😂

(That’s my guess anyway)

Every time I use ChatGPT I want to have an experience like Andie in the library in PIP, and it never happens.
“Do you know who you are?”

Rob Lowe became an unexpectedly goofy character actor at some point and I can imagine that was pretty freeing.
